Update September 2023: I’ve now been using liquid collagen for over 2 years, and I love my skin more now at age 40 than I ever did in my mid-30s! I’ve added updated photos from over 2 years of liquid collagen use, along with my recommendations for a few other skincare & anti-aging products that I LOVE! I hope this helps you too so that you can truly love your skin.

The brand that I get my liquid collagen from offers two different collagen formulations designed for two different purposes:

  1. a forming formula: designed for head-to-toe antiaging support that promotes youthful-looking supple skin and thick, healthy hair

  2. a building formula: designed to help you reach your fitness potential and support agility, mobility, and athletic performance

For my 30-day personal “collagen challenge” I went with the forming formula since my biggest reason for trying it is for anti-aging support for my skin.

Why take Collagen? Don't we Naturally Produce Collagen?

To understand why you may want to take a liquid collagen supplement, first you're got to understand what collagen is and why we have it in our bodies.

Simply put, collagen is the most plentiful protein in your body - it's in your muscles, bones, tendons, ligaments, organs, blood vessels, skin, and more. Collagen isthe central structural component of extracellular connective tissue, which provides elastic qualities to tissues, like your skin.

There is no way to measure your current collagen level in your body, but you'll be able to tell when it's decreasing as you get older when you notice things like increased wrinkles, lines, and drier skin. Collagen is what keeps your skin from sagging and gives you a plump, youthful look.

To make collagen naturally your human body must have amino acids that it gets when you eat protein-rich food, along with vitamin C, zinc and copper. However, even if you eat healthy, as you age your body will no longer absorb nutrients as well or synthesize them as efficiently, which results in collagen loss.

Clinical research shows that starting in your mid-20s you'll slowly begin to lose collagen. Then during the first 5 years of menopause, women can lose up to 30% of their overall collagen production, and this lack of collagen production can accelerate the visual affects of aging.

Collagen supplementation, like using a liquid collagen product, is one way to try to counteract the effects of slowed collagen production in your body.

What type of Collagen is in Liquid Collagen Products?

There are five different types of collagen that naturally occur in our bodies. Each of these common collagen types is designed to support different areas of our body.

The Forming formulation that I use contains types I, II, V, and X of collagen, while the Building formulation contains types I, II, III, and X of collagen.

Here’s what each of those types of collagen does:

Type I Collagen - the most abundant collagen that accounts for 90% of our body's collagen. It supports our skin quality and wound healing, and is the most popular type in collagen supplements. Type I will have the biggest impact on your skin's appearance.

Type II Collagen - found primarily in cartilage, providing a cushion for your bones and joints.

Type III Collagen - most often found alongside Type 1 collagen, helping with intestinal health and aiding the structure of muscles.

Type V Collagen - helps form cell surfaces and hair strength and growth

Type X Collagen - plays a key role in the health of joints and bones

Currently, there is inconclusive data as to if you can target certain areas by ingesting specific collagen types. The collagen you ingest breaks down into its individual amino acids, which "pool" together and your body uses them for any function that requires protein. Therefore opting for a collagen blend supplement with a variety of collagen types of the best way to cover all your bases.

Why is Liquid Collagen Better than Collagen Powders?

Liquid collagen is more easily digested by your body and absorbed into your bloodstream more quickly and efficiently than the powder form of collagen. Your body can absorb up to 90% of liquid collagen, compared to only 30% of collagen powders.

When I invest in high-quality health products, I want to be sure I’m getting as many benefits as possible out of them, so to me, it makes sense to use liquid collagen products.

Plus, let’s be honest…. what’s going to be easily for you to take daily? A powder that needs to be mixed into a drink or smoothie? Or a liquid collagen that tastes like a treat to take a tablespoon by itself? I know which one I’m more likely to take every day!

What to Look for in a Quality Liquid Collagen

How do know you’re picking a quality product when it comes to liquid collagen, and what should you be looking for to know it’s a good choice?

There are a few things to think about:

  1. Multiple different collagen types - Remember how we talked about there being 5 common types of collagen produced by our body? While Type 1 is the most common collagen found in skin-focused collagen products, you’re missing out if your collagen doesn’t contain multiple collagen types that provide healthy hair support, support cell growth, and provide support to your muscles, bones, and joints.

  2. Pure, ethically sourced collagen - The type of collagen that I use is a bovine and chicken collagen blend, and is certified to be sourced cruelty-free. It’s also soy-free, gluten-free, and contains non-GMO lipids. It matters to me where my supplements come from and how they are made, so I’m glad to have this transparency and certifications to support my choice.

How much Does Liquid Collagen Cost?

The liquid collagen I use costs $100 for a bottle (or $90 if you’re a Preferred customer. It’s $10 per year to be a Preferred Customer, so you might as well become one to save that money for future orders!)

There are approximately 32 servings per bottle. The serving size is 1 Tablespoon per day, so each bottle will last you about a month. This makes the price per serving (or per day) $2.81 (calculated off the Preferred Customer price of $90).

Where to Buy Liquid Collagen?

The liquid collagen that I use can be found on its website which can be accessed here.

(just scroll down to “Shop Products by Type” and click the “Collagen” button!)

Like I mentioned, I suggest becoming a Preferred Customer for a $10 yearly membership fee when ordering your bottle. That’s going to give you the discounted price for your bottle of collagen (currently $10 off) every time you order, along with up to 25% off retail pricing for all available products on the website. I personally use this company’s sleep spray(when needed), daily multivitamins, pro-biotics, and collagen-based skincare as well.

I’m very excited to share my personal review and results of using Liquid Collagen! I’ll be using it for 30 days, and posting photos along the way to document my results. I’ve picked the formulation designed is designed for anti-aging properties and specifically improved skin and hair.

If you’re interested in trying it for yourself, I invite you to do the challenge with me and order a bottle for yourself here. Liquid Collagen Before and After

As I work through my 30 days of using Liquid Collagen I’ll post photo documentation of my before and after so that you can follow along with my results!

In case you find this blog article before I finish my complete 30-day experiment with liquid collagen, I’ll provide my timeline here:

Fri, Sept.3 - Ordered a bottle of liquid collagen.

Sat, Sept.4 - Received confirmation that it has shipped and am now awaiting its arrival!

Sun, Sept.12 - My collagen order arrived! And I took my first “Before Pictures”

DAY 0 - Liquid Collagen Results

Does Liquid Collagen Really Work? my personal review + before and after results — More than Mom (9)

Throughout the 30 days I’m taking daily photos at approximately the same time of day (mid-morning) with myself facing towards my bathroom window so that the light is as natural as possible on my face.

The lightning is sometimes different due to sunny vs. cloudy days, but I still feel like this is the most accurate way to take my photos. I’m also taking both relaxed face and smiling photos to see if results can be more easily seen in one vs. the other.

Friday, September 18th - I’m 5 days into taking the collagen daily, so I thought a photo update would be good! Here’s a collage of the last five days.

My initial thought is that the “crinkles” in the corner area under my eyes are less pronounced and my forehead wrinkles are not as defined. It’s a very slight change right now and we’re only 5 days in, so I’m excited to see how things change as the month goes along!

Another question I’ve gotten is: what does it taste like? Well, it’s very sweet! It reminds me of a spoonful of honey that has a bit more liquidy consistency!

Saturday, September 25th - Time for another update! I’m now 12 days into taking a daily spoonful of collagen and I’m posting another set of photos to document. I’m glad that I’m taking daily photos because even though the photos are snapped in the exact same location and near the same time of day, you can tell how much the light naturally fluctuates. So my hope is that having multiple photos helps you to get a more accurate view of my results.

Personally, I feel like I have a less “tired” look, along with smoother skin, especially on my forehead. It actually feels really smooth to the touch which I love. But I’ll let you judge for yourself!

I’m only almost halfway through my 30-day experiment, so it will be exciting to see where my results go from here! Next update coming in about a week. :)

Tuesday, October 5, 2021 - Update time! I’ll be honest… I’m REALLY happy with my results so far. When I look at my Day 0 picture I see an overall “tired” look and a bit of bags under my eyes. Now I look at the most recent pictures over the past few days, and I can really see the difference!

I think the reduction of the lines on my forehead and the smoother skin under my eyes are the most obvious physical changes that I can put my finger on from the pictures. But I really think it’s an overall brighter and fresher look that is the most exciting thing I’m seeing. I’ve still got 8 more days until the end of my 30-day challenge, so I’ll update once more with final before and after pictures.

Saturday, October 16th, 2021 - We made it! 30 days of using Liquid Collagen taken every day, 1 Tablespoon at a time. Without further ado, here’s the last set of daily photos from my challenge.

My Final Before and After Results with Liquid Collagen

While, I think it’s important to see my daily photos from the 30-day Liquid Collagen Challenge, so you can trust the accuracy of my photos and progress, I also think seeing the final Day 0 and Day 30 photos beside each other is really powerful. It’s the best way to see the significant results that I experienced from the start to finish. So let’s do it!

Here’s my final before and after photos with using Liquid Collagen:

My before and after results with Liquid Collagen include:

  • reduction in the appearance of lines on my forehead

  • a brighter, more even complexion overall on my face

  • smoother skin appearance with fewer fine lines especially under my eyes

  • a face that overall looks fresher, plumper, and more youthful!

Needless to say with the results from these photos, I’m really happy with my results! I know it can sometimes be hard to fully trust before and after results that you might see posted on social media for products like this. So I hope this transparent blog post helps you to trust that this product really works!

2 Years Later…

I wanted to share a quick update, now that I’ve been using liquid collagen for over 2 years now! I just turned 40 this last summer, which is a time the visual aging process often seems to accelerate, but even though I’m getting older, I’ve never been happier with my skin and visual look!

After 1 year…

How I Plan to Continue to maintain & Improve my Results

So I’ve been using liquid collagen for a while now…. what’s next from here?

Honestly, now that I’ve seen the results from one simple change in my routine, I’ve been excited to try more things! I’m all about adding “one good thing” at a time and watching all those good things stack up to make big changes.

Here are a few things that I can highly recommend based on my results:

  1. Frownies - these are nicknamed “the original wrinkle patch.” These look crazy to wear, but most people only wear them overnight, and they are basically an alternative to Botox. It’s a way to “train” your wrinkles to flatten by slightly stretching your skin with adhesive. My forehead wrinkles have always been my biggest “problem area”, so that’s where I’m using these every night. This link will get you $10 coupon for your first order!

  2. Vitamins - I wholeheartedly believe that your skin’s condition can be greatly influenced by your diet and the nutrients that you consume. I’m doing my best to consistently take a daily micronutrient complex including fully methylated B vitamins, chelated minerals, and amino acids, along with a daily pro-biotic. I figure it’s an easy way to ensure I’m giving my body what it needs on a daily basis. (I get these from the same website as my collagen)

  3. High-Quality Skincare - I’ve been using Herbal Face Food (specifically The Cure and Serum II) for the past 6 months and have been extremely happy with my results! The products are all 100% plants with no synthetic or man-made in ingredients, which I love.

The Herbal Face Food serums have been proven to reverse the 10 most visible signs of aging: wrinkles, large pores, dryness, redness, discoloration, loss of skin tone, firmness, smoothness, radiance, brightness as well as addressing chronic skin issues such as acne, eczema, rosacea, melasma, psoriasis. These kinds of stunning results are from a 100% plant (not plant-based) product. That’s truly unprecedented, and I love knowing this is the type of product that I”m putting on my skin!

Liquid Collagen: My Personal Thoughts

I hope that you found this review of Liquid Collagen helpful as you consider using a liquid collagen supplement to support your health! While you can see the photo evidence of my own results above, the only way to know if it works for YOU is to give it a try.

I suggest ordering a bottle and using it regularly for 30 days. Look at it as an experiment! Document your progress like I did using photo evidence so that you can prove to yourself if it works or not. There is nothing like comparing photos to know for sure!

Order your bottle here (and don’t forget to sign up as a preferred customer for $10 off!) - just scroll down to “Shop Products by Type” and click the “Collagen” button!

I’d love to hear about your results if you do give the Liquid Collagen a try! Feel free to share in the comments below or contact me personally here.
